During a long and varied career, he represented civil rights activists in Mississippi in the ’60s; was elected to the Westport Board of Finance and state House of Representatives; was appointed a U.S. attorney for Connecticut and a U.S. District Court judge; served on boards of numerous community groups, and is remembered for “his legal and political acumen, intelligence, integrity and devotion to his family and many friends.”
