Joseph (“Joe”) Floto, 55, of Westport, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Though he is gone far too soon, he will live on forever in the minds of his friends and family with his huge grin, his infectious joy for life, and his boundless love for his family.
Joe had a happy childhood in Washington, D.C., and played lacrosse at St. John’s College High School before attending Colorado State University, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He later received his MBA from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, making lifelong friends along the way.
Joe went on to build a successful career as the owner of Floto Imports, a business he poured his energy, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit into. He turned his passion for design and quality into a thriving brand, and people all over the country proudly carry Floto bags today. Friends always loved tuning in when Joe went live on QVC, where the hosts and audience alike simply couldn’t get enough of his warmth and natural charm. Everyone loved Joe.
Whenever Joe saw friends or met strangers, he greeted them by name with his signature, cheery, “Hey, what’s up?” that instantly made everyone feel special. He had a remarkable gift for lifting the spirits of those around him, bringing joy and a sense of fun wherever he went. Many in Westport fondly remember Joe driving his Jeep in the Memorial Day Parade, packed with excited children hanging off every side, laughing and waving to the community. It was a perfect reflection of who he was: fun-loving, generous, and always creating beautiful memories for others.
Yet of all the roles he held throughout his life, none mattered more to him than being a doting husband to Jeannette and a proud father to Alexandra (16), Andrew (14), and Theodore (11). His greatest happiness came from spending time with his wife and kids, creating a life filled with adventure, laughter, and love. Joe was a constant fixture on the sports sidelines, attending countless games to cheer on his children.
The Floto family shared many incredible adventures together, from annual surfing trips to Costa Rica to winter ski weekends in Vermont. Favorite family travels included skiing in Italy, exploring Ireland, and hiking in Zion National Park. Closer to home, some of Joe’s happiest moments were spent on the water, speeding along in his boat with Jeannette, their kids, and their faithful dog, Millie, by his side.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Jeannette; his children, Alexandra, Andrew, and Theodore; his father, Peter Floto; and his brother, Matthew Floto. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Floto.
Though his time was far too short, Joe lived fully and loved deeply. He measured success not by personal accomplishments, but by the happiness of his family. Above all else, Joe’s greatest wish was to make Jeannette happy and spend as much time as possible with the people he loved. Joe’s smile, laughter, and generous spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation and to share memories on Thursday, June 18 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield.
A funeral service will be held in honor of Joe on Friday, June 19th at 11 a.m. at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., Westport.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to an Education Trust for the Floto Children. Please send any contributions via check* to Koether Legal Services, Trustee, 10 Saugatuck Ave, Suite 102, Westport, CT 06880
