Who is HDF and how are they selling homes in Westport for $275,000 dollars? How does that not undermine property values in town? I looked them up and read that they are a nonprofit that has done great work for the city of Bridgeport. Sure, that’s what I want our town to emulate.
Sharon, could you please clarify? Are you claiming that a single affordably priced 1,000 square foot house, on a one-tenth acre lot, will somehow undermine property values throughout town? (I’m not sure how many 1,000 square foot houses there are in Westport.) Or are you claiming that a house sold to a family with the surname Martinez will undermine the property values in town?
Affordable priced and then some! In my working class neighborhood in Westport, the last recent sale on a postage stamp lot went for almost 2 million because someone actually paid for it. Why do you always go to the race of the individuals involved? I am not talking about race, you are. If anyone actually thinks that this $ 275,000 property is a one off, you are truly delusional. Between this and the multiple apartment buildings with state mandated low income housing, Hartford is determined to cut Westport and other exclusive towns down to size. Anyone living here could have obviously have purchased homes in Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford or many other much more affordable towns with the “vibrancy” afforded by low income housing. Why didn’t you?

I own a small “starter home” and have been in it for thirty years. And I am not concerned in the slightest. Are you saying that I should be? Or are you only concerned about this purchase?
