Following is the obituary for YOLANDA HALL, submitted for her family by the Harding Funeral Home.

Yolanda Hall (Guerra) of Westport, died on March 15, 2025. She was 90 years old.
Born on May 5, 1934, in Quito, Ecuador, she was the daughter of the late Laura R. Guerra and the late Fernando Chavez. She resided in Montclair, N.J., for 32 years prior to moving to Westport.
Yolanda was a graduate of Hunter College and Montclair State University, earning a B.A. in education. She received teaching certification for the Spanish language and ESL for grades K-12.
A majority of her 20-plus teaching career was with the Montclair, N.J., public school system. Yolanda taught the Spanish language to kindergarten through fifth grade. She was beloved by her students and was known as “Senora” by all. Yolanda was honored as “Teacher of the Year” and featured in The New York Times for her innovative teaching methods. Her teaching methods are the building blocks for language teaching programs today.
Yolanda enjoyed painting and reading. She took many art classes at the Westport Center for Senior Activities to enhance and improve her painting skills. For many years, she was an active member of the senior center book club.
Survivors include a son, William G. Hall and his wife Maria; a daughter, Susanne Hall-Armstrong and her husband Peter. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Colin Hall, Glen Hall, Brendan Armstrong, Nina Armstrong, Charlotte Armstrong, Jay Armstrong and Nate Armstrong. Her extended surviving family includes nieces Melissa Claire and Amanda Severyn (Hall), and nephews Robert Claire and Richard Hall. And her beloved cat of 10 years, Cuca.
Yolanda is predeceased by her husband William L. Hall, her sister Adita Claire and her brother-in-law Richard T. Hall.
The family will receive family and friends at the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, on Friday, March 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Assumption on Saturday, March 29, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Connecticut Humane Society or the Language Connects Foundation.
