Peter was the kind of person who could brighten any room simply by walking into it. He had a true sparkle, infectious enthusiasm, and a gift for making everyone feel like a friend. He never cared much for formalities—you were far more likely to find him in shorts, a T-shirt, and barefoot than dressed up. That relaxed, easygoing spirit was simply who he was.

Above all else, Peter was a devoted husband to Arlene, and a loving father to his twins Max and Haley. His family was the center of his world. He adored spending time with friends, sharing stories (and he had some good ones), making people laugh, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. His kindness, generosity, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Peter was also a gifted craftsman whose exceptional skill and attention to detail left a lasting mark on countless homes and the lives of those who live in them. He took immense pride in his work, believing that anything worth doing was worth doing well. His strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication earned the respect of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him. His craftsmanship stands as a lasting testament to his talent and the pride he poured into every project.

During winter months, Peter found great joy in spending time with family and friends snowboarding, snowmobiling and celebrating the holidays while at his parents’ home in Vermont. Summers were typically spent on his boat either with a fishing rod in hand or tying up with friends to barbecue and enjoy the warm weather. We are forever grateful for those moments and will forever cherish the memories made.

For many years, Peter courageously battled clinical depression. He sought treatment, held onto hope, and never stopped trying to find healing. Though his illness ultimately claimed his life, it never defined the man he was. Peter is deeply loved, and his loss leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife Arlene Mossa, and children Haley and Max Mossa. He is also survived by his loving family, including his parents, Joseph and Deanna Mossa, his siblings Susan Young (Larry), Joe Mossa Jr. (Luisa) and Katie Carmody (Josh) as well as in-laws, Wendy Jacobsen (Stephen), and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were made brighter because Peter was part of them.

For those who knew Peter, please remember his laughter and sense of humor, his compassion, his strong loyalty, and his unending love for family and friends. While our hearts are shattered, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace. We’re forever grateful for the joy he brought into our world and the love he shared so freely.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

The family encourages anyone struggling with depression or mental illness to reach out for help, to keep talking, and to hold onto hope. Peter’s story is a reminder that mental illness can affect anyone–and is an illness—not a weakness—and that every life is precious.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Pete’s name to your local Humane Society, animal shelter or your favorite charity organization.
