Jeanne Nylen (née Lindblom) of Westport, passed away on April 15, 2025,  at Norwalk Hospital after suffering a stroke two weeks earlier.

Jeanne called Fairfield her hometown, having graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School before attending Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.

In 1960, she married Samuel Nylen, and they moved to Westport in 1962 following the birth of their first child, Wendy. With the arrival of their second child, Toby, Jeanne embraced the role of everyone’s “favorite mom.”

She was actively involved in the community as a Girl Scout leader, Nature Center docent, volunteer teacher’s assistant and head of the PTA at Hillspoint Elementary.

Later, Jeanne pursued her passion for exploring by becoming a travel agent with Westport Travel, visiting destinations such as Hong Kong, Morocco, the Arctic Circle and much of Europe.

After Sam’s passing in 1999, Jeanne opened her home to visiting Chinese teachers through a Staples High School exchange program, hosting eight different teachers in as many years.

In retirement, Jeanne dedicated her afternoons to caring for her beloved grandchildren and enjoyed outings to the theater, symphony and opera, meetings with her book group, and keeping up her tennis game. She was a decades-long member of the Greens Farms Congregational Church.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter Wendy Nylen (James Hopkins) of Bridgeport, step-grandson Samuel Hopkins (Krissy) and two great-grandchildren of South Glastonbury, and her son Toby Nylen (Gail) of Sutton, Mass., along with grandchildren Dallas, Victoria and Sam Nylen.

A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.
