WESTPORT–Staples girls soccer concluded the regular season with a 5-2 win at home over Westhill on Tuesday, Oct. 14 and a 1-1 tie at Ridgefield Friday evening.

The Wreckers finished with a record of 9-2-4 in FCIAC play and earned 31 points to earn the No. 4 seed and an FCIAC Tournament quarterfinal-round home game against No. 5 Trumbull (9-3-3, 30 points) Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 3:30 p.m.

Staples defeated Trumbull 3-1 during the regular season.

In their win over Westhill, the Wreckers got two goals from Kathryn Fontana and a goal apiece from Alexa Van Aken, Ruby Boroujerdi and Scarlett Mermagen. Sami Selig had three assists and Van Aken and Fontana both had assists.

The Wreckers went unbeaten over their final nine games of the season.
