WESTPORT–A dispute over grocery store sandwiches ended with assault and disorderly conduct charges against a 69-year-old Norwalk man who allegedly was unhappy with the quality of the food items – and the space they would take up in the refrigerator, Westport police said.
Randolph Harrell, 69, was arrested after police were called to a Westport home just after 2:15 a.m. Monday. The victim said a verbal argument began when Harrell became unhappy about the quality of various sandwiches that a grocery store had given her in lieu of discarding them, police said.
She said Harrell became physical during the argument, assaulting and bruising her, police said.
Harrell was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. He is due in Superior Court in Stamford on May 12.
