RIDGEFIELD–Staples baseball capped off the regular season with a 3-2 win at Ridgefield on Wednesday.
The Wreckers went 12-3 in conference play to earn the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 New Canaan (9-6) in the FCIAC Tournament quarterfinals Friday at 4 p.m. Staples blanked New Canaan 7-0 in the regular season.
In the finale at Ridgefield, Jules Cicero sparked the offense out of the leadoff spot with a double, triple and run scored. Vincent Vega hit a double and drove in a run. Nolan Walters and Jack Jacob also batted in runs.
The pitching was sharp with Charlie Fitch tossing five and a third innings of two-run ball with five strikeouts and Cole Landgraf pitching an inning and two thirds of hitless ball with three strikeouts.
