WESTPORT–Staples field hockey followed up a 3-0 win over host Stamford on Oct. 7 with a 5-0 blanking of visiting Fairfield Warde on Oct. 13. The Wreckers improved to 13-0 and have posted eight shutouts this fall.

It was a stellar couple of games for Daisy Hackett who netted a hat-trick to do all of the scoring damage against Stamford, before scoring twice more against Warde.

In the win over Warde, Mary Stevens, Lucy Hill and Emilie Russell also had goals. Hackett and Stevens both recorded assists.

Against Stamford, Stevens and Leah Larit helped out with an assist each.

Staples is scheduled to have back-to-back games — Wednesday when Westhill visits at 4:30 p.m. and Thursday when the Wreckers go to Brien McMahon at 6. The last regular-season game is set for Monday, Oct. 20 at Ridgefield at 5 p.m.

Then it is on to the postseason, as the Wreckers look to defend their FCIAC and State championships.
