WESTPORT–The Building Department issued a demolition permit for the property at 4 Baker Avenue in February 2024.

The original house, a two-story antique, was built in 1810. It had 1,600-square-feet of living space, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a half-bathroom, a basement area, a crawl space, an open porch and a finished upper story.

The original garage was built in 1959. The 700-square-foot, 1¼-story structure contained a bedroom, a bathroom and a finished attic expansion.

In its place today stands the house shown above: a 4,400-square-foot, 2½-story custom design, with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a half-bathroom, basement area, garage, finished upper story and a finished attic expansion.

Also on the property stands a single-story studio with 450 square feet of living space with a bedroom, bathroom and crawl space.

The property traded last month for $3,750,000. It had previously traded for $1,100,000 in 2023, for $650,000 in 2009 and for $525,000 in 1992.

The current assessed value of the property is $1,459,000.
