WESTPORT — A write-in candidate recently launched a campaign for a seat on the Board of Education in the Nov. 2 election.
Alma Sarelli is described on her campaign website as “a working mom who moved to Connecticut 12 years ago. She has been a Westport resident for the past five years.”
Sarelli is the fifth declared candidate for the school board. She is running as an unaffiliated candidate.
Sarelli “and her husband run a national event entertainment production company,” according to the website. She also is the president of the Neighbors and Newcomers of Westport club. She is the mother of four children.
Sarelli, who claims current Board of Education members “struggled with transparency,” cites among her top concerns: “access,” promising to hold weekly office hours if elected; revisiting the hours set for the start of school days, and addressing the current school transportation problems caused by a shortage of bus drivers.
