WESTPORT — A Bridgeport man has been charged in a hit-and-run accident on Post Road East in October.
Ryan Sokołowski, 36, was arrested on charges of evading responsibility, operating a motor vehicle with his license under suspension and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
The incident took place just before 9 a.m. Oct. 12, near 709 Post Road East, when police were notified that a woman’s car had been struck from behind by a pickup truck.
No injuries were reported, according to police.
However, the woman told officers dispatched to the scene that the man driving the pickup, after speaking to her briefly, left the scene.
Sokolowski was later identified as the pickup driver, and the investigating officer also determined that his license was suspended and the pickup was uninsured, according to the report.
He was taken into custody Oct. 31 by Fairfield police and turned over to Westport officers to answer the warrant for his arrest in connection with the accident.
Sokolowski was released after posting $1,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 10 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
