WESTPORT–Fire Marshal Terrence B. Dunn, Jr. has been appointed by Governor Ned Lamont to serve on the Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control (CFPC), the Westport Fire Department announced today.
Dunn, who joined the Westport Fire Department in 2003, will succeed Kevin J. Kowalski, a longtime member of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, the announcement said. His term on the CFPC will run through June 30, 2028.
“Fire Marshal Dunn’s appointment is a reflection of his professionalism, expertise, and unwavering commitment to public safety,” said Fire Chief Nick Marsan. “His leadership has had a lasting impact here in Westport, and I am confident he will bring that same level of dedication and insight to this important role at the state level.”
The CFPC helps to shape statewide fire service policy, training standards and fire prevention initiatives.
First Selectman Kevin Christie also praised Dunn’s appointment, noting its significance for both the department and the community.
“This is a well-deserved recognition of Fire Marshal Dunn’s experience and leadership,” Christie said. “His appointment not only highlights the strength of Westport’s Fire Marshal’s Office but also ensures that our community has a voice in statewide fire service discussions and decision-making.”
The Westport Fire Department’s announcement congratulated Dunn “on this distinguished appointment.”
