The Westport Journal has received several letters in support of Ceci Maher, the Democratic candidate for the 26th state Senate seat. It is now represented by Democrat Will Haskell, who is not seeking re-election. The Republican candidate is Toni Boucher.

To the editor:

Ceci Maher has the experience, skill set and values to serve both Westport and Connecticut effectively in the State Senate. Ceci has had a storied career in Fairfield County, running a nonprofit that provides food assistance, clothing, scholarships and emergency services to the underserved. She is fluent on every domestic policy issue that will come across her plate in Hartford. And she shares the values that will protect abortion rights, voting rights and more for all of our citizens.

As our country has taken a hard right turn in recent years, Ceci will work to ensure that Connecticut remains a beacon of light for democracy, freedom and uplifting all.

When Senator Will Haskell announced that he would be leaving his seat as State Senator in the 26th District of Connecticut to pursue a law degree at NYU Law School, a question arose. Who would he leave his seat to? Certainly not Toni Boucher whom he defeated in his first campaign in 2018.

Enter Ceci Maher, former executive director at Sandy Hook Promise and Person-to-Person and please find out more about her on her website at cecimaher.com. Will chose wisely. And on her website, you will see her endorsements, her story, and the issues that she will be focusing on when she becomes Senator Ceci Maher.

The choice is clear — either we continue on the forward progress path that Senator Haskell has paved for us or we put the car in reverse and endure years of “No” from a Republican woman who is totally out of step with the future of Connecticut.

As of now, the State of Connecticut is in excellent hands with a very able and caring governor and a functioning Legislature. We want and need Ceci in Hartford to be part of the energetic and intelligent Democratic leadership. VOTE FOR CECI MAHER FOR STATE SENTATOR.

Ceci Maher – We can’t afford not to vote for her!

Dear Editor,

From the first time I met Ceci Maher over 10 years ago, I was very impressed with her tireless commitment to those she served. Whether providing support to the families of Person-to-Person as executive director, or as a dedicated leader of Sandy Hook Promise, she was fully engaged in doing whatever she could to aid those in need and distress. Ceci supported, and will continue to support, legislation for better education, gun safety, reproductive rights and other Connecticut values. She will be our champion in Hartford. We need someone we can count on as providing solutions. Vote for Ceci Maher for State Senate in the 26th District on Nov. 8!

As a long-time resident of Connecticut, I have learned the importance of our chosen representatives in Hartford. These hard-working people make important decisions about our health, our safety, our schools, our environment and the financial workings of our State. For that reason, I strongly support Ceci Maher’s candidacy for State Senator for the 26th District.

Ceci Maher is a woman who walks the walk. As executive director of Person to Person, she significantly grew this organization that provides food and clothing for our neighbors who struggle to support themselves and their families.

Ceci represents Connecticut values. She is a strong proponent of women’s reproductive freedom and, as a former leader of Sandy Hook Promise, sensible gun safety laws. Ceci’s opponent has stated that our gun safety laws have “gone too far.” In my opinion we can and should go further to make sure our children are safe in their schools and families are safe in their places of worship.

Republicans have lately been raising the old worn-out trope of “school regionalization” to create fear and division among our citizens. Democrats have never proposed the merging of school districts. We all should encourage school districts to save money by, for example, using their combined purchasing power to reduce costs. This is not the combining of school districts and does not contemplate busing of students or any other form of regionalization. To say it does is merely a “dog whistle” to frighten voters.

I know Ceci Maher will work hard to fight for our Connecticut values in Hartford. Please join me in voting for Ceci Maher for State Senator on Nov. 8.

To the Editor:

Voters in Westport, Wilton, Weston and Redding and parts of Ridgefield, New Canaan, Darien and Stamford all have the opportunity to elect an excellent candidate in the newly drawn 26th state Senate District.

Ceci Maher, a lifelong Fairfield County resident, has raised her family, volunteered, and led nonprofits here for 20 years. Everyday problems for families such as food and housing insecurity, workforce readiness, and financial literacy served as Ceci’s focus during her tenure at Person to Person.

Under Ceci’s capable leadership, local residents in need were provided emergency assistance, college scholarships, mentoring programs, clothing, baby and household basics. Her compassionate leadership and work ethic is needed in Hartford!

Ceci has worked hand in hand with state and local leaders throughout her career. Through her previous work at Sandy Hook Promise, Ceci has advocated for common sense gun safety laws. I know that we can count on her to support reproductive rights as well as investments in infrastructure, mental health services and public education. Given her proven record of leadership and work on public policy issues, Ceci will undoubtedly be ready on day one to promote legislation that will help all of her constituents. Please join me in voting for her on Nov. 8.

Ceci Maher — A Real Leader Protecting our Children and Families

I am a Westport mother and grandmother strongly supporting Ceci Maher for State Senate in the 26th District.

Ceci Maher has shown her commitment to protecting our children from gun violence through her leadership of Sandy Hook Promise and is committed to further strengthening gun laws, unlike her opponent.
Ceci has a strong corporate and non-profit business background, including supporting families struggling with food and housing challenges.
We can count on Ceci Maher to stand up to attacks on women’s reproductive rights. She will fight to lower prescription drug costs and to support local businesses.

I encourage others to join me in supporting Ceci Maher for State Senate on Nov. 8. She will move us forward not backward!

I am writing in strong support of Ceci Maher for State Senate in the 26th District.

Ceci has the experience and leadership to keep us moving forward with the values that are important in our community such as investments in our infrastructure, including fixing neglected bridges to keep us safe and fixing roads to increase productivity.

Her work of 14 years as Executive Director at Person to Person helped those in need of food, clothing and housing. She is a champion for children focusing on education and summer programs.

Ceci is the former Interim Executive Director of Sandy Hook Promise, working to prevent gun violence across our communities. She’s earned the endorsement of CT Against Gun Violence and has been awarded the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction.

I am a woman who deeply cares about our right to freedom of health choices and I am confident she will work to protect the right to abortion and access to contraception. I am proud that she is endorsed by Planned Parenthood and the National Association of Women.

As you can see Ceci lives her values and I know she will work hard to fight for our Connecticut values in Hartford.

Please join me in voting for Ceci Maher for State Senate on Nov. 8
