The course for the mile-long, open-water Point-to-Point Swim off Compo Beach.

WESTPORT — One of the community’s longest-running sporting events — the Point-to-Point Swim — makes a splash for a 45th year July 28 at Compo Beach.

The fundraising event, sponsored by the Westport Weston Family YMCA, is set for 8 a.m. Sunday, July 28, at the beach.

The timed open-water competitive swim follows a mile-long loop off Compo, and draws swimmers from around the Northeast. There also are 100- and 200-yard swimming events for children.

To register for the Point-to-Point Swim and child events in advance, which cost $60 and $15 respectively, click here. Day-of-race registration for the adult swim is $75 and starts at 7 a.m.

Registered swimmers get a swim cap, tee shirt and timing chip.

Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

Proceeds from the events benefit the YMCA’s aquatics programs, which include swim lessons and water-safety training for children and adults.
