Roberta Kay Tager, 89, a beacon of light to all who knew her, passed away peacefully in her home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She was surrounded by the love of her family, listening to “Que Sera, Sera” and (I did it) “My Way.” She certainly did.

Throughout her life she was a teacher and a healer to her family, her friends, and the strangers who became friends and family. A lifelong learner, Roberta was a creative spirit, compassionate therapist, baton twirler, Reiki Master, RoHun leader, wife, and mother. She graduated from Queens College in New York City, earned a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Bridgeport, and studied holistic healing at Delphi University of Spiritual Studies. She was a Minister in the Church of Wisdom.

She called Westport and its special community home for most of her life. There she founded Wellness Health Counseling, embracing a holistic approach to healing long before it was common vernacular. She was also actively involved in the school system, was a long-time volunteer at Norwalk Hospital, worked as a realtor, and co-founded Sharing and Caring in cooperation with the American Heart Association (a first of its kind support group for families living with heart disease).

Roberta believed in the power of positive thinking, energy chakras, joyful music, and artful expression. She loved fresh mountain air, long walks on the beach, and celebrating other people’s birthdays and achievements. She was a remarkably generous spirit and a deep source of wisdom and guidance, living on a different plane, defined by love and strength of conviction.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Dr. Michael Tager; her three daughters, Jacqueline, Elizabeth, and Suzanne; her sons-in-law, Graham and Stephen, whom she called her sons; her grandchildren, Shonti, Jasmine, Kayden, and Kira; great-grandchildren Blaze, Apollo, Bella, and Harry Michael; her sister, Wendy; her aunt, Carol; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

For those interested in donating in Roberta’s honor, her family suggests support to Feeding America.
