The Westport Police Benevolent Association Scholarship Foundation proudly awarded scholarships to 17 students attending college for the 2025-2026 school season. The ceremony took place at Westport Police Headquarters on Wednesday evening, May 28th.

The students who received a Wilbur Scholarship completed service to the community and successfully maintained a GPA above 3.0.  The Wilbur Scholarship is awarded to children of active and retired Westport police officers.

In addition, the Deputy Chief John Anastasia Scholarship was awarded to Staples High School senior student, Lily Rimm.  To qualify for this scholarship, Lily was responsible for also maintaining a GPA above 3.0 and serving the community, a service she met and exceeded with her dedicated and numerous volunteer services.

All recipients received a scholarship in the amount of $2,500.00.  The Scholarship Foundation was founded and principally funded by Dr. Joan Poster and her late husband, Dennis Poster.  It is Dr. Joan Poster’s continued support for this program that encourages these students to continue their service and education to ensure a bright future for us all.

In addition to those pictured, scholarship recipients who are not pictured are: Zachary Benson, Grace Biagiotti, Olivia Biagiotti, Jacqueline Kelley, April Nowinski, Edward Nowinski, Brandon Smith, Connor Woods, and Ava Wooldridge.
