Trees ’n’ treats on tap for ‘Oaktober’

WESTPORT — There will be trees ’n’ treats.

An early Halloween party and an oak sapling giveaway will be featured at an event dubbed “Oaktober,” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 8, on Jesup Green.

The event is being sponsored by the Westport Book Shop, the town’s Tree Board and Earthplace. It will take place rain or shine.

Activities planned at the gathering include pumpkin painting, crafts, treats, animals visiting from the Earthplace menagerie and more.

Costumes are optional, but encouraged, according to event organizers. Children should be accompanied by an adult.

At 11 a.m., the Tree Board will start giving away oak saplings, with information about their care.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to the book shop by calling 203-349-5141.
