WESTPORT–Parents are invited to learn about “kid-safe” alternatives to smart phones for families to stay in touch without social media and other cell phone distractions in an Thursday, April 9 event at the Westport Library.

OK to Delay of Westport & Fairfield will host the 2nd Annual Alternative Device Fair in the library at 20 Jesup Road from 1:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will address the risks of early social media access and smartphone use. 

The fair event is designed to encourage parents to take the Wait Until 8th pledge, a movement that empowers parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade. 

Vendors including Pinwheel, Gabb, Bark, and Troomi are scheduled to be on hand to demonstrate devices and answer questions about their functionality.

The fair will feature two brand panels and an interactive exhibition where parents can learn about alternative devices for staying in touch.

The schedule for Thursday: 

  • 1:15 p.m.: Guest arrival
  • 1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Brand panel 1 and Q&A
  • 2:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. Interactive fair and raffles
  • 5:15 p.m. – 6 pm. Brand panel 2 and Q&A
