
WESTPORT–Thousands of people gathered at Jesup Green on Saturday, June 27, for the annual Westport Sunrise Rotary Great Duck Race, a community fund-raiser that combined family entertainment with a meaningful mission.
According to Sunrise Rotary’s Dennis Wong, about three thousand people attended the event, which raised $100,000 to improve the well-being and quality of life of people with special needs.
Contestants purchased more than 3,200 tickets.

The top prize winners are listed below:
- 1st Place ($5,000)–Lindley Maglio
- 2nd Place ($1,000)–Ken Epstein
- 3rd–10th Place ($500 each): Ann Wortman, Terry Eldh, David Press, Gary Munowitz, Robert Mullany, Ginger Propper, Lindsay Wheeler, and Stacey Goodwin.
Doing Good Together
“The Great Duck Race demonstrates what can happen when a community comes together for a worthy cause,” said Dennis Wong of Westport Sunrise Rotary. “Every ticket purchased, every volunteer hour, and every sponsor helps improve the well-being and quality of life of people with special needs.”
The event reflected the spirit of the Westport Sunrise Rotary motto: Do Good. Feel Good. Have Fun.
Through service, fellowship, and community partnerships, Westport Sunrise Rotary continues to support programs and organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with special needs throughout the region.
