WESTPORT–The newest restaurant in Westport is actually more than 20 restaurants in one.
Wonder, the chain of locations that allows diners to mix-and-match items from a wide range of eateries in one place, will officially open at 1300 Post Road East on Thursday. At the 4:30 p.m. ribbon cutting, the first 100 guests will receive “an exclusive Wonder gift and a surprise sweet treat” from Bake Zone CT, the company announced.
Eager diners can sign up for a “Friends & Family Preview” through Wednesday.
True to Wonder’s concept, the Westport location will offer a range of cuisines, from Bobby Flay’s steaks to poke bowls to pizza (New York or Detroit style), for diners who crave many options or groups who can’t agree on a favorite.
“It’s certainly one of the most unique food venues I’ve come across in that it’s one location with multiple different established restaurants within it,” said Matthew Mandell, executive director of the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce, who will take part in the ribbon-cutting. “It’s truly something I want to check out.”
Westport’s Wonder options will include:
- Alanza (Italian)
- Bellies (kids menu)
- Bobby Flay SteakThe Mainstay by Marc Murphy (American)
- Burger Baby
- Detroit Brick Pizza Co.
- Di Fara Pizza
- Fred’s Meat & Bread (sandwiches)
- Hanu Poke (poke bowls “with Hawaiian flair”)
- Kin House (Chinese American)
- Limesalt (Mexican)
- Maydan (Middle Eastern)
- Room for Dessert
- Royal Greens (salads and bowls)
- SriPraPhai (Thai)
- Streetbird by Marcus Samuelsson (Harlem fried chicken)
- Tejas Barbecue
- Walnut Lane (New American)
- Wing Trip (chicken wings)
- Yasas by Michael Symon (Mediterranean)
“Wonder tailors the selection of concepts at each location to best serve the surrounding community and reflect local tastes,” said a company spokesperson.
The Westport location will join more than 100 others, from Washington D.C. to Massachusetts. The company launched in 2018 and opened its first brick-and-mortar location on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in 2023.
Other Connecticut locations are in Stamford, Fairfield and Milford, with one opening in Newington in April.
How do they do it? Some components of options, such as sauces and marinades, are prepared in advance. But meals are prepared fresh, the spokesperson said.
“Wonder dishes are cooked and assembled to order in local kitchens, so each meal is hot, craveable, and served without the long wait,” she said.
