The long-awaited Delamar Westport hotel, 1595 Post Road East, formerly the Westport Inn, will welcome its first overnight guests next week. The hotel is already accepting bookings for the evening of July 1 and thereafter and also for as long as a year from now – or later, Erin Spiegel, director of marketing and public relations for the hospitality company, said Tuesday.
Only some of the Delamar’s 86 hotel rooms and suites will be open for visitors next week, she said, but all the rooms will be available soon. The hotel restaurant, Dandelion, and an event space are expected to open this summer. The hotel also offers one extended-stay long-term suite for guests that might, for example, stay from May through September.
One feature setting Delamar Westport apart from other hotels is the collaboration with Christian Siriano, a fashion designer and Westport resident. He designed the hotel lobby and three signature suites.
The property has been serving Westport visitors since 1960, when the Westport New Englander Motor Hotel opened. Delamar Westport LLC purchased the property, then known as The Westport Inn, in October 2022 for $8 million. The Greenwich Hospitality Group, developer of the property, also operates Delamar hotels in the Connecticut towns of Southport, Greenwich, West Hartford and Mystic and in Traverse City, Michigan.
In March 2023, The Greenwich Hospitality Group also entered into a 30-year lease with the Town of Westport to upgrade and operate the town-owned Inn at Longshore. After some disputes about the plan, including the lack of an elevator to some of the inn’s rooms, the renovations were delayed, but are expected to begin this fall.
The Delamar Westport “has gotten a really great reception so far,” Spiegel said.
The hotel’s amenities will include an indoor pool (to be opened in 2026), space for corporate meetings and social events, a fitness center, valet parking, access to the spa at the Delamar Southport, and a glass of champagne upon arrival, according to a Delamar Westport Fact Sheet.
“We’re excited to bring this long-awaited hotel to town,” Spiegel said.
