
WESTPORT — “Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” will be presented, in a play-reading format, on June 12 at the Westport Country Playhouse.
Christie’s tale of “murder and deception,” adapted for the the theater’s “Script in Hand” series, will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the playhouse, 25 Powers Court.

The play-reading is an adaptation for the stage of Agatha Christie’s novel, “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd,” by Mark Shanahan, who also will direct the presentation.
Featuring Christie’s mustachioed detective, Hercule Poirot, the plot involves a murder at a mansion with mysterious characters in 1926 England.
“I’ve loved Agatha Christie’s ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroyd’ since I first read it as a teenager and adapting it for the stage has been a labor of love,” Shanahan, who also is the playhouse’s Script in Hand curator, said in a publicity release. It promises “a night filled with mystery, laughter and a few good thrills. It’s going to be a killer Script In Hand reading at the playhouse.”
The cast includes: Arnie Burton as Hercule Poirot, Joe Delafield as Ralph Paton, Anissa Felix as Flora Ackroyd, Allen Gilmore as Roger Ackroyd, Santino Fontana as Dr. James Sheppard, Isabel Keating as Caroline Sheppard, Kristine Nielsen as Gertrude Ackroyd, Richard R. Henry as Major Hector Blunt, Tom Hewitt as John Parker, John Rapson as Inspector Raglan, Sharone Sayegh as Ursula Bourne and Anna Simone Scott as Helen Russell.
