WESTPORT — A display of abstract and figurative paintings by Sally VanDevanter will be on view for the June artist-of-the-month exhibit at the Westport Book Shop.

The exhibit, featuring work done in acrylics or oils with cold wax, can be seen during regular business hours through June 30 at the downtown store, 23 Jesup Road.

“I find painting a means of expressing my emotions and appreciation for the world,” VanDevanter said in a publicity release.

“My recent exploration of oil paints with cold wax as a medium has provided me with a newfound freedom to experiment … This sense of exploration brings me immense delight and fuels my artistic journey.”

VanDevanter’s art studio is located in the G&B Cultural Center in Wilton. She studied at the Art Students League of New York, the School of Visual Arts in New York, and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C.

She has worked as an art director at Saatchi & Saatchi, and in art book production management for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
