WESTPORT–Eight singers from the Staples High School Orphenians choir brought holiday cheer to restaurants in Saugatuck on Saturday in the annual Saugatuck Caroling Crawl.
Hundreds of diners and others cheered and thanked the choir members for their performances as they moved from one restaurant to the next, donning Santa caps and singing in harmony. In all, they entertained audiences at 14 restaurants, said Matthew Mandell, executive director of the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event.
The carolers’ route began at the Boathouse at Saugatuck, then led to The Bridge at Saugatuck, Kawa Ni, The Whelk, Tutti’s Ristaurante and the Black Duck. From there, it covered the Westport train station area – Tarantino Restaurant, Blu Olive and Romanacci. Finally, it headed north to Riko’s Pizza, Zucca Gastrobar, Rizzuto’s Oyster Bar and Restaurant, Viva Zapata and the Little Pub at Dunville’s.
This event is part of the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce’s campaign to “Eat Local,” aimed at helping patrons enjoy the holidays.
