WESTPORT–If you think it’s inconceivable that Mandy Patinkin would perform at the Westport Country Playhouse, maybe that word doesn’t mean what you think it means.
The stage and screen actor will be there later this month, singing, but for only one night.
Best known to many as the revenge-seeking swordsman Inigo Montoya in 1987’s “The Princess Bride,” Patinkin is also a singer, storyteller and concert performer. He will bring his newest theater show, “Mandy Patinkin in Concert: JUKEBOX” to the Playhouse, 20 Powers Court, at 8 p.m. Nov. 21. He’ll be accompanied on piano by music director, conductor and pianist Adam Ben-David.
Patinkin’s career has spanned more than 50 years. After several years of stage work, he won a Tony for his Broadway debut, as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1979 musical “Evita.” Four years later he was nominated for a Tony for his starring role as George in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical “Sunday in the Park with George.”
In addition to appearing in numerous movies, Broadway plays and television shows, he has toured in concert and has performed solo or in collaboration with opera star Nathan Gunn and Broadway legend Patti LuPone.
Tickets for JUKEBOX at the Playhouse are $150 and $175, available from the theater’s box office, 203-227-4177, or online here.
