WESTPORT — Sparked by Noah Saed’s two home runs, including a grand slam, the Staples High baseball team blanked visiting Greenwich 12-0 in a five-inning mercy-rule triumph Friday.
A day later, however, the Wreckers suffered their second loss of the young season, losing 6-2 to visiting Amity of Woodbridge.
In Friday’s game, Saed homered in the fourth and fifth innings. Staples put eight runs on the board in the fifth to clinch the victory.
Kai Nee had an RBI single and walk, Jack Farnen drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and Rhys Jamali had an RBI.

Pitcher Mason Tobias allowed the Cardinals just one hit, struck out seven and walked two in four innings of work.
The Wreckers had opened the season with a 5-0 loss to host Fairfield Warde on March 30.
Staples is scheduled to host Norwalk at 4 p.m. Wednesday. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest updates.)
