TRUMBULL–Staples girls basketball went on the road and handed the Trumbull Eagles only their second loss in FCIAC play, 49-43 on Wednesday.
The teams both stand at 9-2 in conference action; Staples takes sole possession of second place by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker. Both squads sit just behind Greenwich (10-1) in the standings with four games to play.
Freya Harvey logged 16 points, four assists and seven rebounds and Marley Belzer had nine points, eight rebounds and five blocks.
Addie Talbott collected eight points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Emma Asiel had seven points, three assists and a trio of rebounds. Chloe Smith added six points three rebounds and a couple of blocks.
The Wreckers are right back at it tonight for a Thursday showdown with the Hatters in Danbury at 7.
