Contributions from up and down the lineup helped Staples girls basketball roll past visiting Bridgeport Central 82-21 on Friday night.

Staples jumped out to a 20-0 lead, led 25-2 after one quarter, and never looked back.

Freya Harvey scored 24 points and had six rebounds and four steals. Marley Belzer logged 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, a pair of steals and three blocks.

Addie Talbott had eight points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals. Emma Asiel had seven points, three rebounds and two steals. Sadie Katzner recorded seven points, six assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.

Chloe Smith logged eight of Staples’ 22 steals. Riley Caney had six points and Maeve Best and Olivia Lambert both dropped in five. Millie DiGiovanni added two points.

The Wreckers improved to 13-2 overall and stand at 8-2 in FCIAC play. The Wreckers are in a three-way tie for second in the conference standings behind 9-1 Trumbull. Staples visits Trumbull Tuesday at 7 p.m.
