First place and an undefeated mark in conference play are on the line. Staples boys basketball hosts Trumbull for a battle of FCIAC unbeatens Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Wreckers improved to 15-0 overall (10-0 in conference play) with a 66-50 win at Bridgeport Central on Friday.

Staples took an 18-6 lead after one quarter and opened a 33-16 advantage going into the half. Central closed to within 48-37 after three quarters but Staples put the game away in the fourth.

Dhilan Lowman scored 19 points, connecting on five of seven 3-point attempts, and had seven rebounds. Sam Clachko recorded a double-double with 13 points, 12 assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Mason Tobias had 12 points and eight rebounds. Matt Corrigan had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists, Austin Heyer added seven points and three steals.

Staples had a balanced scoring attack and displayed great teamwork with assists on 20 of 26 field goals.
