WESTPORT — The Staples High girls basketball team defeated non-conference opponent Windsor, 50-47, in a Monday night home game.

Windsor (6-2) is ninth in the CIAC Class L rankings.

The Wreckers were paced by Sarah VonDohlen and Scarlett Siegel, with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Siegel scored 11 of her team’s 14 first-quarter points. VonDohlen, Siegel and Jaden Mello all hit 3-pointers.

Fieya Harvey scored eight points, Sofia Martin and Ella Harrington both dropped in four, Mello had three and Emma Asiel tacked on a free throw.

The Wreckers improved to 2-5 overall and will visit FCIAC foe New Canaan at 7 p.m. tonight (Jan. 10). Staples returns home to face Greenwich at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13.
