MONROE — The Staples High girls basketball team lost 69-41 in a Wednesday visit to out-of-conference opponent Masuk.

The Wreckers trailed 36-23 at the half and put some pressure on the Panthers to chip away early in the third before the hosts fully seized control. Masuk made a dozen 3-pointers in the game.

Staples was led by Sarah VonDohlen with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Marley Belzer with 11. Sofia Martin scored six and Freya Harvey added four points.
