STAMFORD–Staples boys basketball made it a perfect 19-0 heading into the regular season finale. The Wreckers went on the road and defeated Westhill of Stamford 69-47 Friday night.
They jumped out to a 19-5 lead after one quarter and led 37-18 at the half.
Mason Tobias had 16 points to go along with five rebounds, two steals and a block. Dhilan Lowman scored 15 points. Austin Heyer had 11 points, three assists and a pair of rebounds. Sam Clachko logged nine points along with 10 assists, seven rebounds and two steals. Jack Jacob added eight points, two assists and three rebounds. Matty Corrigan contributed six points, four assists and two rebounds.
Staples hosts Ridgefield for Senior Night, scheduled to be played Monday (game time moved to 8 p.m.). Mother Nature may have other plans so the game stands to be postponed to Tuesday if expected heavy snow moves in Sunday and Monday.
