WESTPORT — Coming off a season-opening 6-2 win at Trumbull, the Staples High field hockey team posted back-to-back shutouts on home turf, blanking St. Joseph High 7-0 on Sept. 11 and Westhill 10-0 on Sept. 13. 

In the win over St. Joe’s, Tyla Ozgen had three goals and Alex Hackett scored twice. Emma Larit and Ella Ledenko also found the back of the cage. Hackett had an assist.

Against Westhill, Mary Stevens erupted to score five goals. Ozgen scored twice and Storey Ahl, Sofia Fidalgo and Leah Larit also had tallies. Fidalgo had three assists and Ahl and Caroline Roschen had assists.

The Wreckers visit New Canaan at 4 p.m. Tuesday. (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
