WESTPORT — The owners of a Hyatt Lane home are considering an addition large enough to be considered a new construction.

Paul J. and Aimee B. Kenline are seeking to renovate No. 7 and add an additional bedroom, bathroom and powder room, according to the application filed by Trillium Architects.

“The proposal is for construction of a new single-family residence based on the definition of New Construction in Sec. 5, as the floor area is increasing by more than 35 percent,” Zoning Official Laurie Montagna wrote in a memo.

Allowable coverage is 25 percent. The project would put it at 30.4 percent.

Some interior and exterior walls with be demolished during the work, the application states.

Harry G. Roraback III owns a house on Woodside that abuts 7 Hyatt Lane. He has concerns about the application and wrote to the ZBA.

“I’m letting you know that my wife and I are concerned about the construction and the variance applied for …” he wrote. “This is why we have zoning in place for property setbacks and allowable coverage.”

“This property has had multiple additions and property grade changes,” Roraback continued. “On this plan I see no provisions for drainage and I would like to know what materials will be used for the terrace or patio as it is so massive. Where is all that runoff going to go?”

He said he already gets runoff from the property, and fears it will get worse.

The application is not yet on a ZBA agenda.
