WESTPORT — Dog lovers should book this date: June 22, when the Westport Book Shop hosts “Doggy Days of Summer” on Jesup Green.

The event, featurng a range of book- and dog-friendly activities, will take place from 10:30 a.m to noon Saturday, June 22, on the green adjacent to the store, 23 Jesup Road. (In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at 11 a.m. June 23.)

Attractions will include:

  • An appearance by writer Denis O’Neill and illustrator Cyrus Quadland, whose book, ”Bradford’s Walk,” tells the story of adventures by a dog named Bradford in Westport.
  • The Westport Police Department will bring K-9s to the event to demonstrate the dogs’ skills.
  • Artists Jack Geer and Ranvir Sharma will create dog-themed art.
  • Representatives of Team Woofgang & Co., a local organization supporting the canine community and adults with disabilities, will be on hand.
  • There also will be games, story readings and other dog-themed activities, according to event organizers.
