WESTPORT — The official “Election Day” for 2024 is Nov. 5, but voting starts today … today, meaning Monday, Oct. 21 … and continues for the intervening two weeks right on through 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5.
This two-week “early voting” period marks the first time Connecticut voters are eligible to cast ballots in advance of a general election day, under a change approved to the state Constitution by voters in 2022. Voters in the state’s presidential and congressional primaries earlier this year also were able to take advantage of early-voting periods, although the number of days allotted was shorter than for the Nov. 5 general election.
Early voting will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 21-31 and Nov. 1-3, with extended hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 31.
In Westport, all early-voting sessions will be in the Town Hall auditorium, 110 Myrtle Ave.
Voting on Election Day — Tuesday, Nov. 5 — will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the town’s usual five polling stations. For a list of the polling stations and a map of local voting districts, click here.

This year’s ballots in Westport, led by the Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump presidential contest, also includes races for the U.S. Senate, 4th Congressional District, 26th state Senate District and, depending on the local voting district, either the 136th or 143rd state House of Representatives districts.

Voters this year are also being asked to decide on a proposed change to the state Constitution, which would essentially permit use of absentee ballots without restrictions, colloquially known as “no excuse” absentee voting.
The constitutional question reads as follows:
“Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?”
