WESTPORT — A 57-year-old man — known for “numerous interactions” with local police — was arrested again this week, charged with threatening a neighbor and stealing her mail.
James Doyle, of Westport, was charged May 3 with second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace and criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny.
The charges were lodged following an investigation begun March 20, when a neighbor filed a complaint that Doyle had stolen some mail from her porch.
The complainant, to confirm her suspicions, installed surveillance cameras, which recorded Doyle “throwing mail under her car on the evening of March 19,” according to the police report.
On an earlier date, the woman told police that Doyle, while on his back porch, made “threatening comments” to her.
A warrant for Doyle’s arrest was issued, and he turned himself in May 3 at Police Department headquarters. He was held on $5,000 bond and taken to state Superior Court in Stamford for arraignment.
