WESTPORT — What’s the state of Westport’s town government at the start of 2023? How about the state of the public schools?
Answers to those questions are promised Feb. 5 when First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker and Board of Education Chairwoman Lee Goldstein present a joint “State of the Town” program.
The officials, both of whom took office in late 2021, are expected to outline major issues their respective jurisdictions face as the annual package of municipal spending and long-term financing challenges, such as a new school, take shape.
The “State of the Town” event will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road.
The program, open to the public at no charge, also will be live-streamed. It is co-sponsored by the Westport Rotary and Westport Sunrise Rotary clubs.
Following the officials’ formal presentations, they will join Tony McDowell, a past president of the Westport Rotary, for a question-and-answer session.
