WESTPORT — A Norwalk man, reportedly driving “erratically” on Post Road West last week, was charged with driving under the influence.
The incident took place about 7:15 p.m. Jan. 22, police said, when they received reports of a driver who was speeding and weaving between the eastbound travel lanes.
When an officer dispatched to investigate found the suspect’s vehicle, it was moving “extremely” slowly at the time.
The driver — identified as Jimmy Lefevre, 60 — was pulled over, and the officer reported he could smell alcohol and that Lefevre’s speech was slurred and his eyes were “glassy and red,” according to the report.
Lefevre failed to perform a field sobriety test to standard, police said, and then was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
He was released after posting $500 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 2 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
