WESTPORT — The new principal of Coleytown Middle School won’t have far to move when she takes on the assignment this coming academic year.
Janna Sirowich, currently the principal of Coleytown Elementary School, has been named the new principal of CMS, replacing Parthena “Penny” Proskinitopoulos, who served in the job only a year.
Proskinitopoulos resigned last week to become an assistant principal at Weston High School, according to an announcement Wednesday by Supt. of Schools Thomas Scarice.
Proskinitopoulos was named to the Coleytown post in July 2023 after having been an assistant principal at Staples High School.
Sirowich, who is expected to start her new job at CMS before the start of the new academic year, has held the CES post for 16 years “with great success,” the superintendent said.
She previously was a literacy leader and classroom teacher in Westport’s public schools.
“I have complete confidence that she will be an outstanding leader to serve the CMS students, faculty and parents,” Scarice said in his statement.
The superintendent did not respond Wednesday to a Westport Journal question about who might replace Sirowich at Coleytown Elementary.
