WESTPORT — The driving rain and wind gusts that swept through the region Sunday knocked out power to thousands, with lingering outages in Westport and area communities early Monday.

As of 7 a.m. Monday, 60 Westport customers had no electric service, according to Eversource.

In Weston, 45 outages were reported and 21 customers had no power in Wilton. In Norwalk, however, there were no power disruptions reported, as was the case in Fairfield, which is served primarily by United Illuminating.

More than 2,400 total outages were still registered by Eversource across its statewide customer base.

Other than power disruptions, no serious problems were reported in the wake of the storm early Monday.

Rainfall was easing early Monday and a general clearing trend is expected as the day progresses, but the National Weather service warns flooding remains a threat for the region.

“Up to one-half foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline” is possible through late Monday morning, the NWS said in a coastal flooding statement.

Skies should clear by late afternoon, as the daytime high temperature rises only to the mid-40s — about 10 degrees shy of the balmy levels recorded during Sunday’s storm.

The outlook from Tuesday through at least Friday is basically the same, according to the weather service: mostly sunny skies with daytime high temperatures in the 40s and overnight lows dropping to the freezing benchmark.

Power disruptions can be reported online at Eversource.com or by calling 800-286-2000. Customers who signed up for the power company’s two-way texting feature can send a text to report an outage and receive outage updates as they happen.
