WESTPORT — The public is invited to a two-day event this coming weekend to learn more about amateur radio and the important role it can play in emergency response during natural disasters.
The Westport Observatory’s Amateur Radio Club K1WAS will host ARRL Field Day on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th. The event will take place at the Westport Observatory’s classroom at 182 Bayberry Lane and welcome other local clubs as well as ham radio operators from across southern Connecticut.
Held since 1933 by the National Association for Amateur Radio in the United States, ARRL Field Day establishes temporary ham radio stations in public locations to demonstrate how they can operate reliably from most locations under a variety of conditions.
