WESTPORT–If you don’t enjoy getting stuck in Compo firework traffic, before or after Westport’s largest community event, Sea Kayak Connecticut offers an alternative.
Paddlers of all experience levels can enjoy the Compo fireworks from a unique vantage point at their annual July Fireworks Tour on Thursday, July 2. The guided evening excursion offers participants a unique opportunity to watch the town’s fireworks display from Westport Harbor aboard paddle and pedal kayaks.
The three-hour guided tour features a choice of single kayaks, double kayaks, or pedal kayaks, with options suited to first-time paddlers and seasoned kayakers alike. The stable, easy-to-use kayaks allow participants to relax and take in the evening as the night sky comes alive with color and its reflections shimmer across the harbor’s surface.
‘This tour has become one of our favorite traditions each summer,’ said David McPherson, owner of Sea Kayak Connecticut. ‘Watching the fireworks from the water offers a completely different perspective. It’s peaceful, immersive, and unlike any view from shore.’
The July Fireworks Tour includes a kayak, paddle, and lifejacket, along with safety instruction. Advance registration is required, and space is limited.
