WESTPORT — A program that supports people dealing with food insecurity was the beneficiary of the recent annual charity golf event organized by the Longshore Ladies Nine Hole Golfers.
The group collected four grocery carts of food to donate to the Westport Woman’s Club Food Closet program, which is run in conjunction with the town’s Department of Human Services.
The program provides food and supermarket gift cards to people in need.
In addition to the carts of food, the golfers also collected $935 to donate to the food closet.
As co-chair of the Westport Woman’s Club Food Closet, I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the effort made by this generous group of women, to fill our shelves. Thank you for supporting those in need in our community.
