Among the speakers will be Mary Fetchet, who with her husband Frank, founded the Voices Center for Resilience after their eldest son, Brad, was killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
The New Canaan-based nonprofit “provides longterm support and promotes mental health and wellness for victims’ families, responders and survivors of 9/11 and assists other communities in preparing and recovering from tragedy,” according to a publicity release.
The event is being planned by the center, in collaboration with STAR Inc., to promote awareness of “National Preparedness Month,” which is observed in September.
Westport officials scheduled to participate in the program are First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker, Deputy Fire Chief Nick Marsan, Deputy Police Chief Ryan Paulsson and Human Services Director Elaine Daignault, as well as Robert Kenny Jr., regional manager with the state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Tip sheets and an emergency management packet will be distributed to people in attendance.
