The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded in the upstate town of Ashford in 1988 by actor and longtime Westport resident Paul Newman, with a mission of providing “a different kind of healing” and creating fun and friendship for children with serious illnesses and their families, according to information from the nonprofit.
The organization also has outreach programs for families and hospitals, and plans to open a camp in Maryland next year, according to its website.
