WESTPORT — Don’t let the fading beauty of that once-glorious Christmas tree start to needle you.

Scouts from Troop 39 and 139 can help remedy that post-holiday problem.

For a 15th year, Christmas trees picked up by the scouts will be recycled and transformed into mulch. The wood chips are donated for use by the town.

The collection date is Saturday, Jan. 4, with registration accepted through Tuesday, Dec. 31.

To register and for more information about the pick-up service, click here. A $20 per tree fee is suggested, according to the troop’s’ announcement.

Trees will be picked up only from Westport addresses.

Wreaths and garlands cannot be accepted because their structural wires damage wood chippers.
