FAIRFIELD – A prominent TV personality and food expert will visit Fairfield University next week, one month after her appearance at the school was postponed.

“An Evening with Padma Lakshmi will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18th, at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. The event is co-hosted by the Center for Arts & Minds and part of the Philip I. Eliasoph Open VISIONS Forum.

Lakshmi was the host and executive producer of the Emmy-winning series Top Chef for 19 series, earning five Emmy nominations for Outstanding Host for a Reality Competition program. She currently hosts the Hulu series Taste the Nation, which she created.

Lakshmi is a bestselling author whose books have included cookbooks, a children’s book, and a memoir. Born in India, she grew up in the United States and worked as an actress and model in the U.S. and Europe. She has also done philanthropic work, serving as an American Civil Liberties Union artist ambassador for immigrants’ and women’s rights and a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme.

Originally scheduled to take place in November, “An Evening with Padma Lakshmi” was rescheduled due to a family emergency.

The event is part of Fairfield University’s “America250: The Promise and Paradox” series of arts and cultural programming to recognize the semiquincentennial of the United States. Tickets are $70 for general admission, $55 for Quick members, and $125 for a VIP ticket experience.
